ZDNet's Dion Hinchcliffe Reviews Online Community Best Practices

Dion Hinchcliffe with ZDNet posted an interesting review of online communities yesterday (Twelve best practices for online customer communities). It is one that I am going to have to get back to for a second thorough reading because of my schedule, but I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the solid article. In fact, it is one of the better reads on the topic of online community that I have stumbled across in quite some time.

Sadly, I find more often than I would like that articles on the topic of online community are lacking in perspective or written by people who think they understand more than they do. But Dion's review of online communities (consumer communities in particular) shows that he actually understands a great deal and took the time to do his homework. In 2008, well written blog posts and articles are something to cherish.

NewYorkMother.com Relaunches - A Community for New York Mothers

I am pleased to report that NewYorkMother.com has re-launched a new version of the site designed to provide more opportunities for mothers in New York to learn from each other, share life experiences, and grow as individuals. NewYorkMothers.com is a resource site and a place for networking.

"You know how to raise your kids, now learn how to RAISE YOURSELF!" As the site's slogan implies, being a mother, especially in a busy city, is more than just raising children. We're all multi-faceted, often complex individuals, living in a world that runs at a frantic pace. Perhaps we're just a little too busy at times to think about our own needs and growth.

We had the pleasure of working with NewYorkMothers.com to development parts of the site, and we're looking forward to many great things in the future. In the meantime, NewYorkMothers.com offers an online community space specifically for mothers in New York to share with each other. It's also a video site with some great interviews with NewYork celebrities and experts on topics like taking care of your body and paying attention to your spirit. There is even a special section of the site for gay mothers who face this unique and often misunderstood experience.
