The New Look of Facebook
Back on July 21st, Facebook posted that it would begin to show users a new look and style. What is actually means is that more and more Facebook users will have the option to switch to the new look, a sort of preview, via a link at the top of site.
(Facebook's Blog Post: Check out the new Facebook).
Well, I apparently wasn't one of the "special ones" because I only had the option appear within the last couple of days. Thus far, I like most of the changes with the new look, although it will definitely need to be tweaked. I would expect to see some more changes as the Facebook product development staff gets feedback from various users.
One of the nicest changes that I have seen is that Facebook seems to have decided that it is acceptable to have the width of the site be wider - for years they've kept the layout as a very narrow series of columns, thus forcing some pages to extend for "miles and miles". Any study of internet users will show that a very small percentage of people still have low resolution monitors - thus, there really are very few instances where a narrow width makes sense.
If you are a Facebook user, look for the link at the top of the page to let you switch to the new layout. You still have the opportunity to opt back out if you decide you don't like it. For now at least.
